Handmade Crock & Fermenting Zoom lesson with Marea Palmer-Loh
This handmade ceramic fermenting crock is the work of third-grade teacher Marea Palmer-Loh, an accomplished ceramicist. The crock features an ancient water-sealing technique: a double moat around the lid allows fermenting gases to escape while still keeping the fermenting vegetables sealed from the air. This is a large vessel—12 inches tall—and can fit a whole three-pound cabbage. The zoom lesson will include recipes and directions for using the crock and making your own sauerkraut, pickles, and kimchi. Donated by Miquon parent and staff member Marea Palmer-Loh.
